I have been looking at the 50W panel for some time now and most panels on the market right now are expensive and out of my budget. I came across this brand called Newpowa and was extremely satisfied with their product. The pricing is a really great deal, so I decided to make the purchase.
For me, pricing is a huge factor and I thought this panel is competitively priced right! Another factor for me was the look of the panel. The panel looks great, well built, sturdy and packaged very well.
Like I mentioned previously, the panel came packaged well and with no damage. It included 3 ft. wire with bare ends and pre-drilled holes for easy mounting. The polycrystalline really shines through the glass and has great color!
The performance of the panel is more than sufficient. The spec sheet indicates almost 3 amps at peak performance and 17 volts and I would say that is an accurate assessment.
Overall, nothing but a positive experience using this panel for my off-grid application. What’s nice is that you can add MC4 connectors and build a solar system for whatever your needs are or leave it as is with the bare ends and run a water pump! I also enjoy the different mounting options there are with this size of panel. Great job Newpowa!

PRO:
1. OMG! This is freaking awesome!
2. FREE electricity! Okay, enough being excited.
3. Size, weight and durability are really good, the tech has come a long way.
4. Aluminum frame is pre-drilled with some holes, and since it’s lightweight aluminum, it’s easy to tap, drill, etc. your own mounting holes.
5. Electronics are low profile enough on the back not to stick out too far, so mounting flush is a breeze.
6. Glass is thin, yet durable, and you have to know panels from the old school era, this is so light and easy to handle.
CON:
1. Live wires, yeah, when this thing is under ANY light source, the wires are HOT. Should have come with some tape over the ends of wires, or caps, etc. and a tag stating as such.
2. It was shipped in its original manufacturer box, i.e. just a thin box and a sheet of cellulose foam over the glass and a GLASS sticker, yikes, the possibilities of damage / breakage was very high.
3. PRICE. When you break this down, it’s a kick in the nuts for what you get. I’d feel more comfortable paying $40.99 for this size and watts.
OTHER:
1. Went to the big box depot store and I brainstormed some brackets and PVC, etc. to mount to my little Jon Boat.
2. Pair this with the 12V/24V Solar Charger 20A Charge Controller, and you are in business for all daylight boating you want!
3. BUY if you want something to keep your battery / batteries charged / charging while you fish, float, etc. on the water.
4. DON’T BUY if you are looking to run in series, I don’t know how I’d wire this if I had two or more panels, if someone wants to post a link to a video, or a diagram, etc. please feel free to do so.

This is a very nice panel, don’t get me wrong, the only reason for a 4 star review is that my brand new clean panel in full sun produced a maximum of around 31 watts under load. Not terrible, but not 50 either. Interestingly, the specs say 12 volt at 2.63 amps. That math adds up to 31.56 Watts, very close to my actual measurement.

Great little solar panel, Packaged and protected well for shipping. Other solar companies could take a lesson from the packaging and protection this company used to protect their product from shipping damage. I ordered other larger panels via another company and two of them arrived completely shattered. Puts out the power as expected. Very sturdy and well build Panel.

I use this to run a 24v fountain pump and a couple of fans. it provides plenty of power for that, somehow even when it’s cloudy.

I have this panel charging a 47Ah SLA battery for some radio gear. My Victron MPPT controller reports 47W on a clear, cool day for this panel rated at 50W. This is on par with 70W panels I have in other installations. Pre-terminated with MC4 connectors is very much appreciated. I’ll likely get at least one more of these and a couple of 100W panels for various projects I have coming in the near future.

This is the first panel that I have had that actually gives over the rated output. Currently getting 57 Watts out of a 50 Watt panel!
Average build quality but light, small and seems durable. Will be getting a 100 W version.

The unit did not produce one volt, I compared it to a similar unit and this unit produce voltage and the Newpowa unit produce nil voltage! The day I tested this was sunny and 29 degrees Celsius!

Bought this to replace a custom-built solar panel that the boys busted. It performs as well as a poly-crystaline panel a third larger; I was very impressed. Open circuit voltage was around 20v, and the current provided is more than enough to keep my deep cycle topped off to run my rain barrel pump, chicken coop lighting, and a little fountain pump. It’s amazing how cheap these are getting. I used to build my own panels to save money, but the price is getting down to my costs for building a similar wattage panel.

Love these 50 watt panels. I turned two of them into a solar suitcase, using casement hinges from Amazon and standard hardware. Initially got 92watts in springtime SC sun when cold. Consistently get 82-92 watts using EPEver Tracer BN MPPT into BattleBorn lithium batteries. Even got 100 watts for short times under varying (cold, clear) conditions. Better than my flexible ETFE for desert Boondocking on public land, place heavy rocks on the stands to keep the wind from blowing them over. Newpowa has superior customer service. I received excellent warranty coverage on a 60w panel I had issues with. I know others have reported damage during shipping, but I have received 5 different panels, very well packaged and with zero damage. Very happy with these panels.
