I returned this item without actually trying it. Much smaller than the online information implied, too small for what I’m trying to do.

The pump that originally came with our fountain was electric and LOUD. So loud I couldn’t hear our radio over it. It limited where I could put my fountain in the yard due to lack of electrical access. I bought this pump and solar set to replace the electrical pump. It took less than two minutes to set up. The pump itself is silent but effective. The solar panels cable is long enough to hide the unsightly panel in the alley behind my gate. Even on cloudy days and into the evening hours with very little light this thing works amazing. The birds aren’t frightened by it. I’ve had it for about three weeks now and will update my review if anything changes. But very pleased with the result!!!!

This product was supposed to be capable of pumping up to a 1 mtr head, but even at 900mm it didn’t have the capability. It was actually useless.

Update: I think this pump is so good, I purchased a 2nd one. I have a large frog bird bath that was in the corner of my yard with no outlet nearby, so I put flowers in it. While enjoying my dolphin,
I thought, why not revive the frogs. Hence the 2nd purchase. I wish I could add a photo, but it says only one photo per review!? Odd. Anyway, I’m happy.
1st review: First solar fountain was the disk, with 4 straws, no separate panel. I suppose it was OK but very weak and did not work well in the location I picked (spit on and off). This one is amazing, very strong output but more importantly, it has a solar panel with an extremely long cord allowing one to place wherever there is sun. It also runs continuously, even with shade. There is a high/low switch, but I didn’t notice much difference. Bottom line, so far worth every penny. If it fails before the warranty, I will be sure to amend this post.

I need to caveat that I am putting together a small solar powered fountain in a mostly tree covered back yard, so ymmv with my experience to a certain extent.
I bought this in early December and the sun is lower on the horizon and sometimes does not spend a lot of time peeking over neighboring roof lines during most of the day.
I placed my pump in the bottom of a 3′ deep water tank (a former planter) and attempted to connect the lengthy water line to it, as it seemed to be designed for. I discovered that the included line does not fit both the pump and the sprayer, despite using both a heat gun to attempt to stretch it, as well as a simple crimping tool. Also the line is very easily bent and pinches off whatever water flow you do manage to achieve. I overcame this by purchasing a smaller water line from my local Lowe’s and cutting a short length of it to insert into the other water line, which helped a bit. However the spray was still very weak and I finally cut the entire water line down to about 6 inches total, to enable about a varying 6-12 inch spray from the head. This seems counterproductive to the idea of being able to place the pump deeper to keep from needing to refill the tank more often.
Also, there is a “switch” on the side of the pump that gives the impression it “doubles the pressure”. When I accidentally knocked off the filter (which is good to know about if you need to clean it… but they don’t tell you, because there are no instructions) I discovered the “switch” is simply a flow limiter on the intake. I removed it, since it was pretty flimsy and served no purpose.
The solar panel is decent, but use caution when adjusting the angle that you don’t unscrew the set screw very far, because the nut could be easily misplaced or lost if dropped in the grass. I would like to see the battery more easily accessed so that I could charge it manually, but I am not certain it actually has one and haven’t yet looked more thoroughly for it.
I intend to get back to making adjustments, as the holidays have had me a little busy. I will edit this if I discover more substantive issues.
Overall, I got this on a cheap price to experiment with.

We bought this to build a little fountain for our hummingbirds. The different spray nozzles give you options, and the pump setup is versatile – we tried it in a couple of different bases, and will likely try a third this year. The solar battery gives it a longer running time on days when the sun is dipping between clouds or giving diffused light, but it does not run at night. We didn’t expect it to, and we’re happy with how well it’s performing.

Love that it dosent need full sun to run the pond

I am so tickled with this one that I need to review it immediately. I had purchased 3 other brands on previous summers that worked, but shot the water beyond the rim of the bath, therefore it was empty in no time. I had spent hours trying to tame the spray to no avail. I just landed up using the bubbler for lack of anything better. This is perfect. We have been having it near 100 for a while and I placed the bath underneath the bird feeder and the birds have been drinking from it constantly. This is not overshooting the bath. It’s perfect. I am waiting to see the bird’s reactions. I have another more shallow bath that birds bathe in, in another area. This bath here is a tad deep, so best for drinking mainly. I am going to purchase another one to create a hummingbird bath as I also have several of them. The long wire to the solar panel is also a big plus. It’s too hot out there to get a better picture…lol…
I’d like to add that it runs even when cloudy and when it gets shady where I have the solar panel. Very satisfied indeed.
