I have not had to plug in to recharge my cameras for months thanks to this.
Hopefully it will work just as great on the fall and winter

I kept wondering why this item was like 25% less than other similar ones and I’m pretty sure I figured out why. This appears to have unregulated output (or higher voltage than compared to other USB solar panels). I like to use these solar panels in my remote IoT projects. I have a solar charger board that takes a USB micro from a solar panel for input, making it easy to setup. It does expect around 5V though. All of the previous solar panels I’ve acquired produce 5V and where above $20…so I thought here is a great deal. Well, depending on the equipment you plug this into, it may not be worth the savings. I measured over 6V output on this item and that was with a 1W load. Great you think?? Not if your equipment isn’t made for 6V. This could burn out your electronics if they are not made to handle 6V+. Since I was testing this on electronics that were designed for 5V I disconnected it and did not complete my power draw tests as planned. This will need to have additional regulating circuitry for at least my needs. For most security cameras that are designed for solar panel charging you’ll probably be ok. BUT…I would recommend you double check your maximum voltage input for your camera before buying this. If it says 5V max, don’t buy this. If it says 6.7V+ then save yourself some money and pick one of these up since it does work. I subtracted 1 star because this could be problematic for unsuspecting consumers that place this on devices that can’t handle more than 5V. There should be some note about this on the sales page…hence why I subtracted one star from my review.

Old solar panel looked like someone had taken a scrub pad to the surface and was no longer providing power. Camera started working as soon as this was connected. Had to water proof the connection, but it works great.
