I love my Smartwings window shades! I didn’t like having to recharge them every 4 or 5 months. Now I keep two or three shades charging every sunny day! These solar panels even charge without direct sunlight. Great buy!

Like: light, slightly flexible, two usb ports, total 3A rated (doubt panel can generate 18 watts), has metal grommet ring in each corner and handle cut-out slot at end opposite usb port; no-like: the metal grommets have rusted badly and look to disintegrate eventually – the rings are about 20-30 percent gone now and this is exposed to outside air but not to direct rain. When the rings come off I’ll replace them with stainless.

Absolutely loved this solar panel. I was skeptical and nervous it would not hold up but it surpassed my expectations. I plugged it directly into my iPhone 14 and during the lunch/afternoon time the panel charged my phone from 50%-100% in 2 hours. The more direct light and the higher elevation the better. At high elevation even in partly cloudy weather it charged. I charged my friends battery pack over 2 days plugged in about 6-8 hours a day.
Best used in full sun.
It is incredibly light. It comes with 2 carabiners and I clipped it on to the top of my backpack where it could sit while I hiked. Due to being so light it does seem a bit fragile. However, it held up well.
I highly recommend this for backpackers. I brought a battery pack and never needed it on the 16 days I hiked the John Muir Trail. We did only have rain and clouds for 2 days so fortunate to have lots of sunshine. I’ll be taking this with me on all my trips!

I used this panel for a 12-day section of the CDT, called the Collegiate Loop. Between my wife and I, this panel kept our phones, headlamps, and GoPro fully charged for the duration of the trip.
I attached this to the top of my backpack and kept it plugged into a Nitecore 10,000 mah battery. On a full day of hiking, the battery charged 1/3 to 2/3 of its capacity (3000-6000 mah). This is not a ton of power, but for 4 ounces it provides significantly more than additional battery packs.
We had good weather, so I cannot comment on the water resistance. I did purchase a silicone USB port plug to keep debris out of the second USB port.
This panel is coated with a plastic film, and I was not sure if it was supposed to be removed. I kept it on to be safe.
I am not sure if this panel provides reverse current protection, which is a problem on Lixada panels. That would prevent the panel from actually draining a battery when it does not have sufficient sunlight (kind of like stabilizing air pressure between two balloons). To be safe, whenever we were camped or taking a break in the shade, I unplugged my battery.
Overall, this solar panel was a great addition to our experience, and I would highly recommend it for longer backpacking trips.

Worked great for about 2 months, but the eyelets and usb ports rust and the usb ports fail. Not great if you want to use this solar continuously outdoors.

I have it in Sun and barely does anything not worth the money

I bought this for my daughter last year to charge a back-up battery for usb-powered devices (phone, camera, flashlight) in a 2 weeks camp that was off the grid. Worked really well last year, and she used it again in camp this year. She never ran out of power. 6Watts is enough to sustain a digital camera, a smart phone and a flash light. The panel is light weight and portable, just what she needed.

This panel is similar to the Lixada panel. However, this panel has a much better USB output/voltage regulator than the Lixada panel. It is slightly heavier. 5 volts at 1 amp is an accurate rating for the output under ideal circumstances. That’s about the best you can get for a panel this size.
I keep this strapped to the top of my backpack when I hike. I can get 5000-10,000 mAh per day.
