Just received it and this looks like a great product with high build quality. I was actually looking for 24v volt solar panel but this product is advertised on Amazon as 12v. However, I was surprised to know that the actual product is more than 12v. The actual rated volts on the back of the panel are 22.3 and 18.6 which is what I was originally looking for to match with my existing solar panel. Seller may need to update the product description/specs accordingly.

Renogy makes great panels, I have 6 of them in total. All but this one have come in great condition. I thought from looking at the box that it was going to be smashed, but it wasn’t. There was tape everywhere on the box. All the Renogy panels I received before had no tape, and this one had lots. There was big dent on the top rail of the aluminum and one corner I had to play with to get it to look better, corner not fit well because of dent next to it. I would have sent it back just because of that but the 175w hard panels are hard to find and are expensive. I should have just got the 200w panels. There seems to be lots of them around and cheaper. I still need one more 175w panel to complete my string. I am just thinking of getting a 200w panel. It’s a little bigger but don’t want to pay extra for smaller panel, and also wait till they have any in stock. I test the panel and it seems to still be working good. Haven’t had much sun lately, to test real output of it. I guess we live and learn.

We have bought several pairs of these over the last 5 years. We keep expanding our setup. These produce good power, do well out in the weather and are easy to wire. Can’t beat the price.

This is a great quality solar panel. I have had a few other small trickle panels and a cheap flexible plastic one (total waste of money) and I am really impressed with the power and quality of this panel. It is really too strong for a trickle panel, but i find I can put it in the shade and it works fine with less power and it will totally charge up a “dead” car battery in no time (paired with a cheap charge controller, made mobile safe by hot glue gunning wiring points). I bought a panel this strong because I got a great sale price on it. Very worth it. Small enough to be portable and easily moveable and will fit on my dash even and large enough to really kick ass, charge up a lead acid battery and all my 5 volt usb lights and devices. Great for camping. My only problem with this panel on the onset was that it came with Renology MC4 connectors attached and I had trouble deciding whether to buy more of those or rip off the MC4 connector and just convert to 12 volt automotive water proof connector I already had on hand. For my uses, I was better off without the MC4 (a waterproof rating not size rating) I decided, and I finally pried them off and converted to the 12 volt auto connector, but the psychological block really impacted my project.

At first I was really bummed, footprints all over the box, torn box and the box is clearly marked no step, fragile, etc. I thought for sure the panel was going to be trashed (Thanks UPS, grrr)…. I pulled it out and did as thorough examination for physical damage and saw none. Did a quick voltage test with the panel laying against the shop and all seemed ok. Mounted it up on my shed with Z-brackets, rubber washer style hex self drilling fasteners and lay on, solid copper tin-plated grounds to the frame of the panels with 1/4 inch stainless steel button head cap screws (BHCS) and a stainless nut backer with a star washer. I also used a little 120 grit sandpaper and wd40 to make sure the anodization was off on both side of the frame. The Renogy panels DO NOT come with ground hardware, more than likely due to (How the heck do we know how you’re going to mount this?) and was not unexpected. I had some 10 ga MC4 connectors and cable that made it into the far side of the shed. Why did I not mount it closer? For easier expansion of course! From their into the shed via a waterproof box, then down to 60A/1000V breaker, then routed the cables out through a waterproof pull box, from there, used schedule 80 to 18″ below grade and back up to penetrate the shop. Then onto a 3/4″ backboard and into a Victron 100/50 Smart Controller. @ 2:45 PM once the clouds broke for a minute or two I saw 236 watts!!!!! That’s through 50’+ of tin plated copper10ga (6mm2) cable and a disconnect! Pretty impressive! Of course I live in Colorado at 5800′ +, the sun here is wicked, and It’s July first but it in my mind a 200w panel that can be beat to death by UPS and still put out 236W in the early afternoon, is a freakin winner.

I’ve had six of these Renogy 100w panels over the past 8 years, and I’ve subjected them to some pretty harsh situations (hail comes to mind). They perform well, they’re built very tough, they’re easy to mount securely, and they’re a great value. There are better panels available, but I think these are the best value, especially for mobile applications.

I have a travel trailer that came with 190w go power panel and controller. This hooked up to my system easily with the correct wiring and is about half of go power price. If I had more space I would add another. They work great together. I bought the 200w single panel. Minus 1 star for not including the mounting brackets. I did have a 10 amp go power controller so I had to replace that you need at least 20 amps per 200 watts with a pwm controller.
