I bought this instead of an Eufy solar panel. I originally purchased the Eufy and it didn’t charge very well so I bought this and it worked perfectly! My camera is always 100% with this panel.

If you have Google Nest Cameras (2nd Gen) w/ internal battery then read below. A lot of info is provided here.
Some background on my situation: I bought this for use with Google Nest cameras. Google Nest partnered with Wesserstein and they sell 2 solar panels designed specifically for Nest: the 3.5 watt “premium” panel and the “regular” 2.5 watt version. The premium version typically sells for $80 and the regular for $60 so when I saw this panel advertised for 7 watts and you’re getting 2 panels for roughly $40 I jumped at the chance.
This is not a 7 watt panel, most likely a 5 watt panel at best. I don’t have the capability to test it. I see one other person mentioned it’s a 5 watt panel. Based on size compared to other panels I don’t believe you can actually get 7 watts from this. I’m guessing the seller is lying about the capabilities. However, even if it is 5 watts that’s still way more than the “premium” 3.5 watt version Google Nest / Wasserstein sells so I thought no problem.
Ok, so the first problem. You need to find a way to convert the attached micro USB cable to the cable used by Nest. My solution was to buy a female micro USB adapter to USB A female so that I could then plug in the Google Nest cable provided with the camera. This all works fine and Google Nest camera shows it’s running off grid power (not solar).
This brings me to the next problem. Because the Google Nest camera thinks it’s running off grid power, the camera then runs full throttle and the camera’s battery starts draining. The Google Home app shows me the battery draining over time when I checked the battery status every 5 minutes. There wasn’t enough sun available & electricity produced to maintain the battery at least from draining.
After researching the problem I found out that the issue is with the cable I’m using. The Wasserstein solar panels have an included cable specifically made for Google Nest where the pins are in a half oval shape. This is different from the pins on the cable that comes with the Nest camera, the pins on that cable are all straight in a line. It turns out the matching half moon pins on the Google Nest camera let it know that power is coming from solar and not from the grid. This in turn makes the camera function in a low power / event based recording mode instead of recording continuously 24/7 as it had been.
If only the seller of this panel would sell a version with this cable, that would fix my problem.
I will be returning these panels and buying the Wasserstein version instead.

I initially purchased this solar panel to keep my SimpliSafe camera powered without the hassle of frequent battery changes. For the first four months, it worked flawlessly, keeping my camera charged even during cloudy days. However, after the fourth month, it suddenly stopped charging my camera. Despite troubleshooting and ensuring everything was correctly set up, the solar panel no longer provided the necessary power. While it was a great solution initially, the reliability issues have been disappointing.

I bought one to power my AT&T Hotspot in my Radio Station security (all 16 solar PTC Cameras). It works so well I ordered another one to replace a lost solar panel for one of the PTZ cameras. I’ve used it to power my iPhone 15 Pro Max while waiting for the bus, and never had problems – I’ll fully recomend this to anyone! Comes with Micro USB & Micro-> USB – C adapter! Mounting screws, etc.

This is a must have if you are trying to keep your wi fi security cameras charged without taking the cameras down. I now can get constant charging with no down time. This product is an excellent choice. Install was relatively simple as long as you install panels in a position to get plenty of sunlight. I mounted the panels directly on the house side panel and deck in direct sunlight at least half of the day for each panel so my battery now remains fully charged daily. When it’s cloudy outside the cameras are already charged enough so no more worrying about charging the camera every four to six months. I recommend you buy this product as I have had no issues to this point.

I purchased this panel to replace another brand that I suspected had an issue. Glad I did. My outdoor camera stays charged and is not so weather (clouds) dependent. I just purchased a second one to replace another panel because the performance of this one is much better.

I am very pleasantly surprised at how well it is keeping my Bird Buddy charged. I don’t even have it installed south facing or in place that it gets more than 6 hours of direct sunlight.
