I recently tried the Solar Panel for SimpliSafe Outdoor Security Camera and found that it worked as expected.
While it did not fully charge the camera after 14 hours of full sun exposure, I am hopeful that it will at least keep the camera charged enough to function effectively. The durable wall mount and IP65 waterproof rating are excellent features that provide peace of mind for outdoor use.
Overall, a practical and reliable option for powering SimpliSafe outdoor cameras that don’t have a hardwired power option. 4 stars.

I was skeptical, but I am pleased to report my skepticism was unfounded. I had a battery in the unit charged to about 80%. I installed this panel just above the camera at the rear of the house which gets the afternoon sun. The cable is very difficult to plug into the camera, which is a good thing I guess, as it makes the seal good for water tightness. The adjustment for the panel also seems a little loose, although it has stayed put so far. To my very pleasant surprise, the panel trickle charges throughout the day and really charges in the afternoon when the sun hammers it. I’ve seen my battery get down to 85%, but before I know it, it’s back at 100%. So far, this is very promising. If you don’t want to run a power line to the camera, but hate having to swap out batteries, this may be your answer. It’s definitely mine!
