Description
- Solar cell: Made of Grade A PERC Monocrystalline solar cells with much higher efficiency(22%) and more durable than other mono solar cells.
- Premium EFTE Film: This film features superior light transmittance and weatherproof performance, and is also heat, corrosion, and UV resistant. ETFE also has self-cleaning abilities, ensures the best performance day after day.
- Backboard: Durable fiberglass backboard with better heat dissipation and heat resistant PET/TPT board, which ensures a long lifetime. ETFE film and fiberglass backboard, it can withstand extreme environmental conditions, maintenance-free for years.
- Ultra-thin: At only 3mm thick, the solar panel is powerful, waterproof, lightweight, durable, and highly resistant to the harsh operating conditions of a marine environment.Lightweight, weigh approximately 25% of a glass framed one. They’re a great choice where you want big power without sacrificing fuel economy, or don’t want any extra weight on your roof that may affect your center of gravity.
- J-Box: IP68 Waterproof junction box with bypass diode and blocking diode safety protection.

We purchased one of these directly from Lensun. The panel puts out roughly 10 watts when connected to their controller, open circuit is about 20 watts. We did not expect the panel to put out 50 watts, usually it is 20% less than advertised on any panel, so we expected around 40 watts of output. This one came in at 80% less than advertised. Lensun was no help and said output was correct for real world conditions. I would say that’s false-advertisement. In this case, you may want to consider another brand panel for your vehicle.
Update 8-22-22: Lensun said they would ship another panel, so hopefully that solves the issue. No ETA yet, but will update when new panel is received.
Update 9-9-22: I did receive a second panel and tested that as soon as I could. The new panel (not formed to the hood curvature yet) did put out better power. I was able to get 2.33 amps (similar OCV a before) on a fairly cloudy day, which leads me to believe there were some dead cells in the panel. I’ve updated to 3 stars, and will update this once installed after the panel is flexed to the hood. This isn’t a CIGS panel, so flexible panels like this aren’t known for lasting as long as a rigid panel.
