N A ALANIZ –
Works as it should. Easy to install, outside of the electrical side. If you do electrical work, super simple. If you don’t, then its complicated. But I 100% recommend. Installed in tiny home, and it does great. If my central unit goes out I will replace it with these units. Mr. Cool has roots in U.S., and seems to have good customer service. Go Mr. Cool and save yourself some headache if there are issues. Shipping was a little late, but the first time I ordered, it was from another company, and i never received it. 2nd purchase came in a day or 2 after “expected delivery” but no complaints.

This is the second MrCool DIY unit I have installed and they have both been pretty easy for a knowledgeable DIY person. A couple of things that I have learned from the first install helped me greatly on the second.
Follow the directions closely and read the entire install manual before starting anything (trust me).
Make sure to have a helper for the heavy lifting it makes life a lot easier.
I bought a mini split line set cover kit off amazon ($30) because the line set is facing the street and I wanted to protect and cleanup the look as well.
I poured a small concrete pad using 2x4s as a frame (17”x30”). It required roughly 3 bags of concrete. Might be overkill but I let it cure for a week before using ¼” concrete wedge anchors to secure the unit to the pad. The dimensions of this pad fit the 9k BTU heat pump very well.
My house has cement block which I thought was going to be tough to drill through but it wasn’t. The key here is to buy a concrete hole saw. I bought mine on amazon for about $20. It drilled right through the wall with my corded hammer drill and light force. If you push too hard the bit will dull quickly. Let the tools do the work.
I found the drain line to be a little short so I bought a mini split drain hose extension ahead of the install. (You may not need this but I installed mine high on the wall)
You should get a licensed electrician to install the unit. However, the wiring is straightforward.
Lastly, the MrCool system is great. The condenser is roughly 4 feet from my bedroom and I cannot hear it running at all. The inside unit is not noisy and the constant air movement (I have mine set to fan ON) helps me sleep while keeping the room at the perfect temperature. The efficiency of the unit has been quite surprising as my electricity bill has reduced compared to this time last year. We no longer cool\heat the entire house to keep our bedroom perfect. The MrCool app works pretty well too. I wish it had an auto off for the LED at night.
I hope this helps you. I wish someone had told me some of these things before my first install.

This unit heats and cools super fast. It is really quiet. So far no issues or problems. Easy to use.

We bought this for a 8×12 outbuilding office, that is well insulated and faces the sun. We chose Mr. Cool as we are somewhat knowledgeble at DIY.
Pros:
Quiet
Works well
Didn’t require an a/c installer
App does add several nice features, like scheduling.
Cons:
The USB/Wifi controller is not easy to install/instructions confusing
The wall cuff that you use to seal up the hole through the wall for the lines is one size- you must cut to fit and carefully!
If you are placing the outside unit on the ground, it must be secured and level- this reduces vibration
This unit costs more than most mini splits
The inside installation was straightforward and a cardboard template is provided that really helps for placing the inside unit. The outside unit on ours is small 9000BTU, which was just the right size for the space. We’d watched several YouTube videos about the wiring and coolant tubes, so we did a lot of measuring and remeasuring before we uncoiled the connections.
VERY IMPORTANT: make sure the ground is level on the outside unit. We leveled the dirt, used large concrete pavers as the base and further installed a mini split ground stand to ensure it was high enough where rain and snow couldn’t rest on the unit. (stand we used: Mini Split Ground Stand for 9000-24000 BTU Ductless Air Conditioners Heat Pumps, Heavy Duty Adjustable Mini Split Stand Condenser Stand, Max Load: 440LBS) The ground stand also has rubber gaskets that minimize vibration while it’s running. This stand was bolted into the concrete blocks. Once we had the outside unit in place, the tricky part was connecting the lines. THIS is where you should read, watch videos and google everything. The whole reason we bought Mr. Cool was because the lines are already pressurized (don’t need an a/c tech to come out). Thankfully, we connected and opened the lines with no leaks. It works well. We still want to cover the lines with conduit.
WARNING: Like other reviewers, we also hated installing the USB/Wifi controller dongle. The instructions were not accurate for our unit- and you have to hunt around for where to put it in the control board. THEN, the instructions for syncing the controller to the app were not straightforward. we had to google until we found the most recent instructions. Be prepared to start and restart the unit for several minutes until the USB/Wifi finally shows up on your phone app. Once you are are registered and have your device listed on the app, you can create custom schedules and preferred temperature settings. After all that, the app works really well! (if you are not tech savvy, the remote works just fine too)
TLDNR: If you are little handy and willing to read up/watch youtube, you can install this mini split.

Received the product very quickly after ordering, no problems at all with the order or shipping. The trucking company called ahead of time to arrange delivery to make sure it was all coordinated. The minisplit was very simple to install and get up and running within a couple hours. I’ve had three of these units before and they work great.
