Comes with a little card with a QR code that says to scan to register. That doesn’t work at all. Go to the web site to register where you get a form that asks where you got it. I select Amazon and it wants an invoice number, but would not accept the Amazon invoice number. The little card recommends their app which I installed which supposedly can be used to register. However before you can register you have to connect the charge controller with blue tooth, which you can not do without an adapter, a fact that is not mentioned in any of the documentation I could find nor could I find this adapter on Amazon. The bottom line is that I could not find anywhere to successfully register the purchase.

I installed the panel on a fixed pole on the rain/snow roof over my camper and the controller under the roof in a protected location. The kit has plenty of wire even for a semi-remote installation. Now the solar panel and charge controller maintain my battery while my camper is parked under the roof for storage. It has now been a few months and I have had no problems with this soler panel kit.

NOTE… BEWARE OF ONE LIMITATION. Buried in the user manual among all the other small print is a statement that connections to the battery (to be charged) must be made BEFORE connections to the solar panels, otherwise the voltage from the panels could be high enough to damage the charge controller. This seems insane to me that the electronics aren’t designed to provide this protection internally. I wanted to mount the controller and panels with permanent wiring and not have to disconnect/connect the solar panels each time. If you forget to do this and destroy your controller, it is NOT covered under warranty. Renogy Customer Service basically told me that it’s up to the installer/user to deal with this limitation, so I did. I designed a simple external circuit using a relay and some diodes to automatically prevent the panel voltage from entering the controller until a connection to a battery is made. I used a timer relay to give a few seconds of extra “pre-power-up” insurance, but a standard relay should work as well. I also included fuses per best practices. See the accompanying schematic and picture of my control box wiring. Other than this unexpected shortcoming, I give the Renogy system a solid 4 stars for installation and operation.

Good product, good price.

Installed this kit this weekend. Also purchased the wall/roof mounting bracket kit. Worked out great. Everything started up and started charging just like it was supposed to. I’m sure there are better controllers on the market but this kit works so far for my shed.

I was pleased with this 50 watt drill free kit. Wish it came with adhesive though. This is the second kit I have installed and still pleased with Renogy products.

Ordered this about two weeks before our vacation. I wanted assurance that we will have our battery in the camper topped off during the day. The panel is smallish, so it’s easily packed between some of the camper cushions. The charge controller did great for keeping our phones and tablets charged, as well as making sure the camper had enough power to run the exhaust fan and all the lights for hours. This was a perfect addition to our tiny little camper (I call it a metal tent). Don’t expect too much from this unit; the output is only 10Amps max with all things added together (including 2.4A for each USB port). The panel output never peaked above 20V, but that didn’t seem to matter. It did fine overall keeping our 35Ah battery ready for action.

I used this kit for an off-grid storage shed to add some lights. Very easy to install and have had zero issues. I have added a second 50 watt panel and also recently used it as a method to charge my dead ATV battery. The only thing I wished it had included is some disconnect switches for the the solar input and battery out put and the component’s to ground the system. I added these myself later.

I needed to be able to keep my lawn tractor battery charged and didn’t have electricity to my shed. I bought this Renogy 50 watt kit and it works great to keep my battery fully charged. Charges through four different cycles. I built a custom mount and mast for the panel so I could optimize the angle and direction for seasonal patterns. Bonus use – I bought a marine battery switch so I can also use it to recharge my boat trolling motor battery that also runs my 1500 watt power inverter to power TV, fan, etc during emergency power outages. I also added an on/off switch to the positive feed from the solar panel to turn it off when changing from one battery to the other or unplugging the charging cord from the tractor. You must turn off the solar panel before changing battery’s to protect the controller unit. Working great so far!
