Atrociously expensive for no reason whatsoever. Don’t buy these.

I have been using the panels now for about six weeks. They are producing good output especially after I tilted them to point at the optimal angle for the late fall. The packing was excellent, which I expected for a relatively expensive and fragile product. I wish any of the Renogy kits to tilt the units worked for large (>200 watt) panels but I was able to build my own.

The 2 Renogy Bifacial 550 Watt Solar Panels arrived safely and were installed. However, the glass surface of the front of the panels was abraded? discolored maybe by contact with the cardboard packing. There was no soft packing in between so when shipped, the moving and jiggling may have caused this. I tried cleaning the surface but nothing works. Hope it doesn’t cut down on the efficiency.

These things are huge! You don’t realize how big 40×65 is till you’re carrying it up a ladder! That said, they’re only about 40 lb apiece… On my initial tests, with moderate sunlight and at a bad angle, they’re pulling about 200 Watts a piece… Proper testing to come… They arrived very well packaged, with foam inserts and all… and so clean I can see every handprint where I touched them! If you’re going for power by the square foot, these things are the epitome of go big or go home!! They’re not the cheapest panels around, and that shows in the quality… If you buy the whole set of eight like I did, I’d recommend the Renogy 100 amp charge controller, cuz you’re going to need all the power you can get for these beasties! I mean, it’s 25 100 watt panels, or eight of these.. Now I just got to figure out how to put them all on a 31-ft RV!!!

Ordered two set of Renogy 450w bifacial panels during black Friday sale. Amazon had to special delivery. When received both both showed some signs of shipping. One set was perfectly fine, the other set had a shattered panel and a scuffed panel. Contacted Amazon and after a little back and forth with them try to figure out how to handle the replacement, Amazon Customer Service decide to refund me for one set, told me to keep the panels and discard the shattered one. The price of a pair of panels is now around $300 more. The panel are well packaged. I know they are large and heavy, but extra effort should be made to take extra care in handling…… Amazon Customer Service, did a great job resolving the problem, but would have preferred having 4 good panels.
I have only been able to run some quick tests on them and they all show great output. Will install the three good ones for now and decide whether to get more later.

Received these during the winter/spring, best produced so far was 520w. Work well and are consistently running 450w in sun.
