I’m 4’11 so I wasn’t sure if this backpack would fit me. I figured I could just return it if it was too big and bulky. It fits me perfectly! The bottom rests on the small of my back just above my tush. I have hiked with it twice- both times up and down very steep terrain. The waist strap and thinner chest strap keep the pack from shifting, which is really important. I never felt off balance. The shoulder straps are wide and very comfortable. The pack isn’t heavy at all by itself. The heaviness kind of depends on how much you carry. Some reviewers said they wished it had inside compartments, but it works fine. I put small items like keys, lip balm, tissues and alcohol wipes in a small dry bag I already had. That way I can grab it quickly and nothing gets lost. I put messy stuff like bug spray and sunscreen in another dry bag. My extra clothes, towel and water shoes go in the bottom of the backpack. I didn’t try to see if it would float, but there’s no reason it wouldn’t. The bag rolls down and you strap it down in 3 places. There’s no way anything inside it can get wet. It also has a plastic loop on each strap so you can attach your cell phone strap with a carabiner. I’m constantly taking pictures, so that’s handy. It’s such a cool looking backpack! I ordered the blue one and I love it. The only thing it needs is a mesh pouch or a stretchy strap on the side to hold a water bottle. That way you don’t have to take the pack off to get your water. It’s a great pack and I’m really happy with it! It feels durable and I feel certain it will hold up over time.
Update: I have hiked with this bag 22 times since purchasing it and it’s still in great shape. Comfortable and plenty of room for my stuff. I still recommend and would buy this product again!

This is a great purchase! Took it on an Alaskan Cruise with lots of excursions into the damp wilderness and on an ocean fishing trip. All item inside the pak kept dry and were easily accessible via the large opening. While I did check a large suitcase on the flight to Alaska, I used the pak as a carry-on bag to store all my bulky shoes/boots and a winter jacket. It fit under the seat in front of me.

I Wanted a backpack that would keep my belongings dry if I fell in deeper water. This bag will definitely do that. I filled it halfway with water, Folded top three times, buckled top together and then turned it over. Not a drop came out! Thumbs up

Ohh these backpack drybags are the bees knees. Honestly, even though this is MOSTLY geared for boating, camping and other super wet locations , I use it as my one-bag travel for flights as well. I’ve spent more on cool duffle bags for one bag trips, but now I use this more often then not. Here’s why. Its 100% waterproof vs “mostly waterproof” like more expensive TPU bags. The ENTIRE bag is easy to wipe down/rinse if it gets covered in sand or other junk (bringing beach towels and snorkel gear and other misc junk to the beach). It can double as the “poor mans cooler” if/when hauling beers to said beach. I also have a preference for roll down tops. Roll tops are simpler/more reliable than zippers if you ask me. Also, between the cinch down straps (just like a more expensive duffle bag) and the fact that this thing is essentially “airproof”, you can squeeze out all the extra air/space out of this sucker and get a really tight cinch so this bag fits money in the overhead bin on a plane. It takes some technique to get the air out, then roll it (vs leaving an air bubble inside, which would make it float if this falls into water), but its a slick move if taking this on a plane.
And honestly, this material is every bit as burly and awesome as any nice Osprey/Patagonia/etc technical duffle. While I wouldn’t WANT to check this bag (35 litre fits on an overhead), it would probably be fine if checked as long as it was cinched down well, and you didn’t pack it like a fool in the first place. If you are looking for the “super-awesome adventure bag”, you just found it.

I grabbed this bag to keep food and gear in when we go fishing as it seems everything I take gets soaked in the boat. A buddy took me duck hunting last weekend and I was woefully unprepared. We ended up sitting in a foot of water. This bag was floating next to me for three hours. Everything inside was dry. I’m impressed.

Update: Had a small problem with the bag, customer service responded quickly and took care of the problem, they really stand behind their products!
Update: After a couple of attempts I was contacted by customer service: It turns out my emails to them were going into their SPAM folder. Once we connected they were very helpful and sent me a new bag it seems to have an improved design. I am very satisfied with their customer service and I feel that the product is well designed and is of high quality. I will buy other products from them again in the future.
I bought this backpack for my 12 year old son to use for school. After a year of medium levels of use one of the backpack straps became unattached. There is no way to easily repair it and maintain it waterproofing. I wrote an email to EarthPak and received no reply. Followed it up with two more emails and a couple of phone calls still have not received a reply after 5 days. They claim on their website a 24 hour reply time and the product is covered by a 5 year warranty. Very disappointed.

Great price for this kind of bag. IT’s not as rugged as some of the more expensive bags but for what I needed it’s perfect. Load your gear, put it in the canoe and you’re good to go wit no worries. The backpack straps are fantastic. Makes moving gear around so much easier.
