When I tested this miniature solar panel, I made sure it was super bright noon day sunshine and used known verifiable test equipment. ( I could have pulled out much more impressive meters, but I know these testers are accurate, and very convenient for this test) My best results were 3.34 watts output with a load. I used a USB fan, a Lenovo 11″ tablet, and 10″ Amazon Fire HD tablet as loads. The most they would pull at 5.1 volts indicated was .64 amps. Using a genuine 1 amp 5V load, the voltage indicated dropped to 3.8V DC at .806 amps. This panel was extremely sensitive to aiming, and by merely moving my hand over the panel at a distance of 12 inches it would effectively “shut down” and show no output. It did manage to run the USB fan at a reasonable speed, and I guess you could eventually charge a small device, but it’s output is extremely small.

When I connected this to my phone, it actually drained power from the phone. The phone was off, but when charging a dark screen comes on showing a phone with power level increasing. That screen is mostly off, but the phone is still thinking… thinking about charging. Well, the phone started at 61%, and an hour later was at 55%.
I tried on an even brighter day with a different phone, and that one actually did charge, but it only gained 1% every 10 minutes. So unless you’re hiking all day with this strapped to your backpack, and for some reason you chose not to bring an infinitely more powerful power bank with you, then yes, you could use this to charge your phone… hopefully.
In my video, I have it running a 120mm computer fan. The framerate of the camera makes it look like the fan is spinning only about half as fast as it actually did. But still, it was too weak to have been much use in most situations.
So, to want to use this, it would need to be in an emergency situation, when all of your similarly priced portable powerbanks have been depleted.
