Update: lowered to one start as the pump died after about eight weeks.
First the good: This is an excellent pump with good power – if anything the head pressure is a bit too much (see “flaws” below). The cord is high quality and long enough to place the solar panel in a sunny spot. The panel and battery work very well with a steady flow even on a cloudy day. I really appreciated the water level sensor that keeps the pump from running dry – these pumps usually end up draining a smaller bird bath as the wind blows the spray out of the bowl. When this happens the pump will be protected.
The flaws, and there are a few: The pump is too strong and the spray will end up landing outside smaller bird bath bowls. An adjustable flow rate would have been appreciated at this price. The pump doesn’t work well in deeper (two inch) bowls. The spray head ends up below the surface of the water and the spray pattern doesn’t break the surface well. Including a simple extension piece, as many solar bird bath fountains do, would have helped significantly. Without an extension, six of the seven spray heads are worthless in a moderately filled bowl. On the plus side, this uses the same pump riser diameter as most other solar fountains so I was able to borrow a piece from a previous pump. The biggest flaw, and it’s a show-stopper, is that the water filter holder is poorly designed. The pump has a small square of filter material keeping plant debris from being sucked into the impeller – this is a good idea for an outdoor pump. Unfortunately the holder for the filter block is open at the top. Either the filter floats out when the pump is off or a curious bird steals the block – either way the pump quickly becomes blocked without a filter. Fortunately the package includes extra filters but after losing two filters in two days, I had to fashion a wire cage around the filter holder to keep from losing the filter. Designing the filter holder to properly retain the filter could have solved this issue but instead the customer will have to devote time finding a way to keep the filter in place. This is very disappointing for a pump in this price range.

Bought this pump to use in a birdbath and I love it! The birds and chipmunks love it too!! It is actually very powerful and although it comes with several attachments you can only use the one I used or none at all. The other attachments will shoot the water so high that they will drain your reservoir very quickly. This pump is solar powered with a battery back up. The battery only lasts for so long but it is better than no battery at all. This pump also has an automatic shut off if your water gets too low, that is very important! I thought the pump was broken when I first plugged it in because nothing happened. I kept unplugged it and plugging it back in but it would not come on. The plug has 3 small prongs on it, after rotating the way they fit into the connector it finally came on. I don’t know if it matters which prong went into which hole but the pump has worked fine ever since. For a reservoir I used a porcelain serving dish which I filled with 3-5” polished lava rocks. The lava rocks aren’t cheap but I wanted to offer a maximum amount of grip so that my critters would not drown. All items bought here on Amazon.

Product arrived quickly and no issues since 3/17/24. I change every day or other day the water, it starts working early 545am and it is still active until 550pm more or less. It works even rainy days or cloudy(low pressure of course), pond is work in progress

Update 7/3: Because the lowest water flow is still too high, I put it under an Orchid pot. The lights shine real nice still above and throu6the pot holes. Pic Included.UPDATE 5/13: This sucker is packed with water flow power. Which is good, but even at the lowest setting it’s too high. Even with a “sock” in it.:-) Stuffed some duct taped balled up under the sprinkler head and managed to slow it down. Very small. yet full of energy.*****OLD REVIEW: Powerful pump. Too powerful cause it shoots water up to the sky pond the lowest height setting. Only the sideways sprinkle works at a decent height. Lights nothing to write home about, but works decent as it is a plug in. Solar pumps are useless and they fail after the first year. I use it for a hummingbird sprinkler. Any advice on how to lower the pump pressure more? Too high on the lowest setting.

This does exactly what I wanted; a pump that will circulate the water in our bird bath so that we don’t get insect larvae growing in it. I enjoy the fountain aspect more than I thought I would. The cord for the solar panel is long so I was able to place the solar panel in an area that always is stays bright and just bury the cord. The solar panel is glass so it should last a lot longer than plastic ones. The pump turns on and off during the day and the battery seems to keep it working when the light isn’t as bright. It’s not a powerful pump but it’s exactly what I needed for a shallow bird bath.

what a great little fountain for my bird bath bowl.. several attachments to give different types of water streams. the cord for the solar panel is very long, which is good because my yard has spotty sun and I have to chase it. the panel itself is very nice quality too.. once the little device is fully charged (not sure how to know that except a full day of sunshine seems to do it) it will continue to function in low/no sun for some time.. For me however with no full day of sun location it will only work when the panel is in direct sun. If you have more opportunity for sun placement of the panel you will LOVE this thing. I love it and it only works part of the time through no fault of its own. oh and the birds seem to enjoy it

This fountain lasted me all summer outside. The lights are beautiful and can be seen from a distance. I had it running day and night. It’s a really well made fountain pump. In the winter I use it inside as well. Customer service for this item is also great they answered any questions I had immediately through email. Wish I can give them 10 stars. Great product and great customer service.

We’re impressed with the strength of the pump. The batteries are holding a charge from the solar panel and operates during the night. Held back one star only because nothing is perfect, although it seems to be, so far

It’s great, the power cord is crazy long although I still needed an extension cord. Lots of nozzles. The problem is the power of the nozzle even on the lowest setting I feel it to powerful. Only because the water shoots outside of the bowl (and it’s not a small bowl) so it’s basically going to empty faster . The video is the lowest I could get it unless I just used the little stump. Not sure if I’ll keep it.
